Becoming a Member

We are always looking for people interested in joining our organization.

Who can be a Member?

Any RN that works in the Perioperative Area. This includes Ambulatory Surgery and PACU .

Who Can Be An Associate Member?
Associate membership is a non-voting category for individuals who are primarily engaged in one of the following professions:

  • Health care industry representative
  • Central service professional
  • Physician
  • Health care Administrator
  • Materials manager
  • Informatics personnel
  • Pharmacist

Associate members may not hold elective office or serve as delegates.

Be Involved-Stay Involved.
As an AORN member, you will increase your exposure to issues and concerns within the perioperative nursing community, enrich your professional and personal development, and contribute to the industry's overall advancement and quality patient care.

There are several benefits to becoming a member of our organization. Our members are close friends and we have a great time when we get together. Of course we also have a common interest, and we hope to further our cause.

AORN is the professional organization of perioperative registered nurses that supports registered nurses in achieving optimal outcomes for patients undergoing operative and other invasive procedures. AORN is the global leader in promoting excellence in perioperative nursing practice. AORN is composed of approximately 41,000 perioperative registered nurses in the United States and abroad. Perioperative nurses are defined as those who provide, manage, teach, and study the care of patients undergoing operative or other invasive procedures.

AORN provides continuing education opportunities for perioperative nurses through seminars; clinical articles in the AORN Journal; and its annual Congress, which offers technical and scientific exhibits and more than 70 educational sessions by speakers recognized in their fields.
